The Weight
I am still 201.2 lbs this week. I haven’t lost any more weight, but I also haven’t gained any. So, I don’t think that the pound that I lost was just water weight and that’s good news!
Good Eating
We’re here for an honest account of my health journey and I will be honest. I haven’t done any substitutions this week. I haven’t done any swaps because I won’t be grocery shopping for another two days. In fact, this week I’ve had a giant pretzel with beer cheese, ground beef, pizza, frappuccinos, buffalo wings, and a lot of other calorie-heavy food. The healthiest meal that I’ve had this week was ramen at a Japanese restaurant.
This is why I am taking the approach that I am taking. If I were doing a real diet, my epic fall-off over the past seven days would be devastating. But I am not doing a diet. I am experimenting. What I’m learning from this experiment is that I can lose a pound a week with a few swaps or substitutions, and I can maintain my weight even when I fall into old habits as long as I’m consistent with my exercise routine. At least temporarily. I ate whatever I wanted, as much as I wanted, and still didn’t gain any weight.
Which brings us to…
No Pain, Lots of Gain
Even though I ate like trash this week, I have been keeping up with my workouts. I’m still using the Walk at Home videos. I did do some Tai Chi this week as well. So far, I am enjoying that. It’s very peaceful.
I took a couple of days off to go out with my husband and some friends. Taking a break every couple of days makes it easier to get through it on my workout days. It’s also nice to know that 15 minutes of flexibility exercises and 15 minutes of aerobics a day can offset my bad dietary choices a little bit. I feel a lot better knowing that consistency is really the key here.
Wrapping it Up
I have noticed a difference in my energy levels this week compared to last week. I’m not feeling as motivated as I did the previous two weeks. I barely mustered up the motivation to make this post and I was moving exceptionally slow fulfilling orders for my business. Everything got out on time, but I prefer to ship things to my customers as soon as possible. It is a goal of mine to post about free events in San Diego every week, but I procrastinated so long that I just never got around to it. Now, it’s already Saturday. This week was not what I wanted it to be, but we all have setbacks.
I think that my diet caused this. For week 4, I will be more mindful of what I’m eating. I have my grocery list set up for success. I am a little nervous about the results. It would be disappointing if my meal choices changed and I still didn’t lose any weight or experience an energy boost, but we’ll see how it goes.
